All about Brandon Blackwell

Past. Present. Future.

With his degree under his belt, Brandon moved back home to New Jersey and began

freelancing in and around the New York City Metro area. One day, he had the meeting of a

lifetime, with Ray Chew, who, at the time, was the Musical Director for America Idol. This

meeting led to him becoming the Head Audio Engineer and Production Manager for Ray and his

wife, Vivian’s company, Chew Entertainment. While with Chew Entertainment, Brandon got a

crash course in mixing monitors for many great artist of today and the past such as; Chaka

Khan, Jennifer Hudson, The Isley Brothers and Angie Stone, just to name a few. Through his

time at Chew Entertainment he not only mixed for many of today’s artists, but he also learned a

lot of the inner workings of the music industry.

The music industry took notice of Brandon’s outstanding skill and expertise and he was given

his first big gig as an independent sound engineer mixing monitors for R&B singer Ne-Yo. After

some time with Ne-Yo, he then went on his first tour with TLC as the direct headliner to New

Kids On The Block’s, “Main Event Tour”. When the tour ended, everything started to fall in place

and Brandon caught the touring bug! From there on, he has worked with many of today’s

biggest artists such as Tori Kelly, Ciara, PartyNextDoor, A$AP Rocky and Puff Daddy on the

Bad Boy Reunion Tour in 2016 and most currently Big Sean. Even though Brandon is known for

being a monitor engineer, he really enjoys mixing Front of House and also RF Coordination.

When not on the road, Brandon is based out of New Jersey. He enjoys getting the opportunity to

sleep in his own bed and spending time with family. He also gives back by consulting with

bands and venues around the country connecting them with engineers through his company

Blackwell Productions. Brandon enjoys helping people who are interested in the technology we

use for live shows and looks forward to assisting in helping you make your show the best it can

be.
